Two & a wake-up

…days, that is, until I’m off work for 11—count ’em—11 whole days!

Can you tell I’m nearly giddy with anticipation? The best part of it is we have almost no plans for that entire period. We do have a family dinner or two to look forward to and time with friends, but all of that is very low key and definitely more fun than work. My to-do list is ambitious and I already know I won’t get it all done, but any chore accomplished is one less I’ll have to deal with in the new year. I’m also including in as much blogging, scrapping, and photography time as I can manage. Living where I do in SW Florida means that this is prime time for outdoor activities here—daytime temps in the 70s are, for us, refreshingly cool!

This past Saturday was a vacation prelude as far as I’m concerned. I joined the Digital Divas (a women’s photography Meetup group) for a “balloon glow” at an area nursery. I’ve never been around hot air balloons before (though I do hope to get to the New Mexico hot air balloon festival one of these years), so I didn’t realize that it was such a long process to get the balloons inflated. As you can see from the photo below, it turned out to be worth the wait. I expect my vacation will be worth the wait too.

  1. That sounds like a wonderful time! Hoping you do everything you need to, and enjoy it too – and thank-you for your warm good wishes. 🙂 I was really touched, and it meant a lot at a difficult time. Thank-you.

  2. Wanda – I wish you great enjoyment of your days off. When I was still in the corporate world, I almost always had the week off between Christmas and New Year’s – what a year-end treat!

(Now, of course, every day in retirement is a special gift!)

  3. You and I share a schedule. I’ll work tomorrow and then just bring in some paperwork on Wednesday…and then….I’ll be off until January 3rd! Like you, I don’t have a lot of obligations over the holidays, so will focus on relaxing and pursuing some of the interests that go by the wayside due to work.
    Merry Christmas!
